Job description

• Cook food by a range of methods (eg. Baking, braising, roasting or steaming)

• Plan menus and work out food and labour costs

• Plan staff rosters and supervise the activities of cooks and assistants

• Order food, kitchen supplies and equipment

• Demonstrate techniques to cook and advise on cooking procedures

• Prepare and cook food

• Divide food into portions and add gravies, sauces and garnishes

• Explain and enforce hygiene regulations

Freeze and preserve foods


Job requirement

• Certicate / Diploma in Hotel Catering with 2 years' as Demi Chef or

• Secondary school qualidication with 3 years' experience as Demi Chef

• Ability to lead a team of kitchen crew

• Knowledge in food quality and waste control

• Knowledge in kitchen safety and regulation

• Menu planning and food costing experience

• Basic computer knowledge
